We are a family business.

As a family-run business, our sense of togetherness and fair and cooperative interaction are the cornerstones of our corporate culture. We have flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths. The right environment for ideas and impulses.

If you take a look at the German economy, and in particular at medium-sized companies, you will see that more than 90 percent of them are family-owned. These types of companies place a high value on sustainable management and reinvest their profits in the further development of their business and the recruitment and development of their employees. Plasmatreat works exactly in the same way: We invest over 12% of our turnover each year in funding our extensive research and development department and hold over 150 patents on plasma systems and processes. In this way, we secure our technological leadership and the jobs and futures of our employees.

Our CEO's Christian, Lukas and Magnus Buske care deeply about their company and its employees around the world. With prudence and foresight, Christian Buske introduced his four sons to Plasmatreat and its technology at an early age. They got to know the company and the technology in various summer jobs and internships.

Two of the sons, Magnus and Lukas Buske, showed an early interest in the special and sustainable technology for surface treatment and oriented their professional careers towards joining the family business. They studied mechanical or industrial engineering and, after working for other companies such as Audi AG or Jowat Klebstoffe, joined the company as team leaders in various positions.

After several years as team leaders, Magnus Buske was appointed Global Leader for Research & Development and Lukas Buske Head of Plasma Applications in 2019. Following the expansion of the management team to include Lukas and Magnus Buske in autumn 2022, the two sons have been entered in the commercial register since the beginning of 2024 and are thus officially managing directors of Plasmatreat GmbH.

With the commitment of the two sons, the future of Plasmatreat remains in family hands and another building block is being laid.

Christian Buske CEO at Plasmatreat

Christian Buske

Christian Buske is the founder of Plasmatreat. After completing his studies in cybernetics and automation technology, Christian Buske and a partner spent several years developing a revolutionary technology: atmospheric pressure plasma. This technology makes it possible for the first time to pretreat, activate and clean surfaces with plasma in a production line.

In 1995, Christian Buske applied for a patent for the "Openair-Plasma®" and within a few years, under his leadership, the company was able to attract important partners and customers from industry.

The driving force behind the company is a creative and motivated team of employees, a great spirit of innovation and the conviction that plasma technology is capable of enabling completely new processes in the production of technical surfaces. True to the vision: "Every surface a plasmatreat(ed) surface".

Lukas Buske

Lukas Buske started his professional career at the VW Group after completing his master's degree in industrial engineering and worked in the area of research related to mobile services. He then gained almost three years of experience as a development engineer at Audi AG in the area of sensors and actuators. From 2017, he managed the PlasmaPlus business unit at Plasmatreat, which is used to create nanocoatings using atmospheric pressure, e.g. for anti-corrosion coatings. Since 2019, he has also been Head of Plasma Applications & Market Segment Manager Battery and an official member of the Management Board since 2024.

As a member of the company's management team, he is responsible for sales and service, marketing, human resources and the development of the individual business segments. "I see great potential for Plasmatreat in the future in the areas of e-mobility and electronics, where we expect strong growth internationally. For example, in the battery sector, we will continue to drive forward very specific future-oriented topics such as thermal conductivity and insulation, as well as applications in the fuel cell sector. We, at Plasmatreat, want to be a reliable partner for our customers, helping to shape future production and processes," says Lukas Buske.

Magnus Buske

Magnus Buske, who studied business administration and mechanical engineering, brings extensive experience in the adhesives industry from his work at Jowat SE/Detmold and is, among other things, very knowledgeable in the area of pretreatment of substrates. This background qualified him for his position as Manager Bonding Applications at Plasmatreat in 2018, where he was responsible for projects in various industries and research areas. Shortly after joining the company, he took over additional responsibility for the Research and Development department.

As a member of the Plasmatreat management team, he is also responsible for purchasing, manufacturing, design, innovation management and the commercial departments. "In the near future, I see the main focus of our company and my work particularly in making production processes more environmentally friendly and replacing harmful solvents with our plasma applications and reducing CO2 emissions," says Magnus Buske.
