Quality Pays for Itself – Dramatic Reduction of Error Rates with Pretreatment of Mobile Telephones

In 2006, Plasmatreat introduced its Openair® plasma technology to Samlip, a South Korean manufacturer of mobile telephones. Samlip quickly recognized the advantage of significant improvements in quality achieved by pretreating mobile telephone half shells and decided to equip all its production lines with rotary nozzle plasma systems from Plasmatreat.

In just a few months of production, Samlip already saw a drop in scrap. They were able to reduce their original error rate of 13% to a remarkable low of just 4%. The plasma equipment paid for itself in a short period of time.

Inline surface treatment of mobile phone shells with rotary jets directly before coating has been minimizing reject rates for years. Testing with test inks shows a distinct increase in surface tension.
